DeleteThe four yo thread, everyone jumped to evaluations and diagnosis immediately. My question (in my head) is the mom giving in to these tantrums? Maybe the kid just knows how to get what she wants. Sounds more like a brat then needing therapy. Jeez bhb, just once say the kid is a brat!!! Not many kids need meds, therapy and evaluations. It's ok to have a tantrum sometimes when you're four.
DeleteTherapy and diagnosis is the only response you can give. Anything else and it would be considered abuse. This violent 4yo is not the only one. Others do this and they start it around 3 or 4.
DeleteHowever, there are a lot of screen time “brats” that don’t act like that. And there are “brats” who have no screen time ever because it’s not allowed in their home and have these violent tantrums. So usually is an underlying cause mixed with passive parenting. Passive parenting/no discipline is new age parenting though. Passive parenting doesn’t work for every child though. Clearly. So both parent and child need new methods of dealing with situations that trigger the explosive and violent melt down. That OP will only get that help with professionals. So it’s worth it to direct her there.
