But to talk about what I do know, nothing about my ADHD feels like an asset. If scientists came up with a safe pill that made my ADHD disappear, I would have zero hesitation. And I feel like I don't even have it that bad compared to people who can't keep jobs or relationships because of their symptoms.

The earlier you know you have it, ADHD, the better off you are. So if your child does have it, at least you can know sooner than later.

The thing that bothers me is that pointing to an external factor rather than looking at their own genetics means parents go through their lives undiagnosed. Untreated adhd and/or autism affects your parenting and harms the kids who need extra support.

I do feel that when a professional diagnoses a kid, there should be a best practice to look at the parent for undiagnosed conditions too. Or do people think white Europeans do not have racism issues, cultural appropriation issues, etc.? Reconnecting with your great-grand-parents culture is great if your into it, but I don't think that does anything for race relations. And that's not even speaking about white-nationalists loooove for their real or pretend Nordic roots.

DeleteI can see how white, more recent immigrants would have used othering as a way to be accepted by older established white communities. So they erase their roots and pretend to be the right kind white and band with them against immigrants who can't do the same because they have the wrong skin color... But if that's what the OP means, erasing their roots wouldn't be the cause, right? It's just one of the tools they used to assimilate and prop themselves above other immigrants, and racism was another one of these tools. I don't know... It kinda feels like someone is selling this as an excuse or "a quick fix" to racism, but maybe I need to watch these videos
